GMB viewers fume ‘let him answer’ as Ranvir Singh ‘interrupts’ guest

GMB's Ranvir Singh interrupting guest

Good Morning Britain viewers fumed at host Ranvir Singh during Monday’s emotional interview with David Hunter as the presenter kept “interrupting” the guest.

David joined via video link from Cyprus to talk candidly about his wife Janice’s battle with her terminal illness and his prison ordeal after he killed her to end her suffering, but fans pointed out Ranvir kept cutting in during the conversation.

Many took to social media to express their annoyance, with Twitter user @mrgrandan writing: “And as usual Ranvir interrupts the guest! Me, me, me #GMB.”

@ck2618036556 argued: “Ed [Balls] and Ranvir are not strong enough presenters to do #gmb together. Train crash interview full of interruptions.”

“God, shut up Ranvir #gmb #GoodMorningBritain,” @FlopsyPickle fumed.

@TallAndFirey added: “Let him speak ffs #gmb,” while @FitzjohnVicky echoed this, posting: “Ffs let the man speak #gmb.”

@LukeHayesII1 remarked: “This is one of the most awkward interviews ever #GMB.”

It came as David was talking about his wife’s suffering when Ranvir cut in with another question.

“David, go on,” she added after the guest paused what he’d been saying.

Later, Ranvir again spoke over David to say: “David I know that… Sorry carry on.”

“I’m just saying it was difficult…” David continued, “I was hoping something would get better but it never would.”

Ranvir once again interrupted: “And you… You…”

As David stopped talking, Ranvir said: “No carry on David, do carry on.”

David remarked: “You could see it on her face.”

“And David then you did carry out your wife’s request and you tried to take your own life afterwards but you did end up in prison,” Ranvir remarked before asking if the guest had felt it had been “worth it”.

Later, he started to say: “We were in the hospital in Paphos and-” but Ranvir commented: “So David… David, the picture you paint there is that you became her full-time carer.”

David explained he got used to the prison system after a couple of months but that it had been a difficult experience.

“David, do you remember the first time that Janice ever raised with you the idea that the right thing to do would be to help her take her own life? Do you remember how you felt?”

“Yeah, she asked about six weeks before, and I said no. I just said, ‘Keep fighting.’

“I couldn’t taker my wife’s life, I kept saying, ‘I can’t, I don’t want to hurt you,’ and she said, ‘You can’t hurt me anymore than that pain I’ve got now.'”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
