For many people, the John Lewis Christmas advert truly marks the beginning of the festive period.

From heart-warming tales to tear-jerking moments, the John Lewis Christmas ad never fails to deliver.

This year the nation will be heavily relying on the annual advert to deliver some much-needed festive cheer.

And many will no doubt be wondering whether it will give us a welcome break from the pandemic, or highlight the importance of Christmas during these difficult times.

So it will no doubt come as a relief that this year’s advert will be bigger and better than ever – but it’s going to be a bit of a tear jerker.

When is the John Lewis Christmas advert 2020 being released?

John Lewis hasn’t yet officially confirmed the release date of the Christmas advert for 2020.

However, in the past years, John Lewis has released its festive advert in the middle of November.

Last year, we met the adorable but accident-prone dragon Edgar on November 15.

The year before the advert also premiered on November 15, but in 2017 it was November 10.

So based on the last couple of years, we would expect to see the advert drop around November 15 – but it could be a few days earlier.

What do we know about the John Lewis Christmas advert?

The department store has hinted that the long-awaited Christmas ad will centre around acts of kindness.

The feel-good mini film is also set to be another tear jerker, so buckle up.

In a joint-venture with its sister store Waitrose, it will focus on helping others.

John Lewis recently announced plans to raise £5million to help vulnerable families through the festive season.

They are also encouraging customers to help their local communities.

This year the advert will draw attention to families who have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

John Lewis remains tight-lipped about the Christmas advert, but has told The Mirror: “The initiative, which reflects the world in which we are living will be complemented by the much anticipated Waitrose and John Lewis Christmas ad.”
