Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has spoken out about his future playing brooding Cain Dingle after taking up the role over 20 years ago.
Jeff, 52, has seen Cain be in the middle of a number of huge storylines over the years, with one of his latest being the tragic pending death of his mother Faith, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Soaps are known to kill off some surprising characters during their special episodes, and with the 50th anniversary of the soap pending, it seems no one is safe.

Producers of the soap have confirmed that the Dales is going to be ripped apart by a devastating storm, with many characters being left in serious danger.
Speaking to Express, Jeff and his co-star Katherine Dow-Blyton, who plays Harriet Finch, addressed their futures on the soap.
Jeff revealed that soap actors tend to only get offered a year’s contract at a time, saying: “I sometimes find that hard to believe but they have got to keep the show moving and they’ve got to freshen up the show.
“But sometimes they do have to say goodbye to people and that is always upsetting."
He added: "But one day I am sure it will be me, it could be me this year.”
The death of Chas and Cain’s mum Faith is set to kick off the anniversary storylines, with Faith set to lose her battle with breast cancer in October.
Executive producer Jane Hudson explained: "As we start our birthday month, we'll be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.
"Then we will work our way into our storm week.
"The Faith story is such an emotional and heartbreaking story. It's going to be huge across our 50th.
"I think everybody involved in that story is pulling out some of the most amazing performances I've seen in soap for a long time. So that's got a huge part to play."
