EastEnders spoilers: Whitney Dean’s exit sealed in wake of Leo King murder?

Whitney (played by Shona McGarty) has been haunted by the ghosts of her past ever since she was raped by Tony King (Chris Coghill) when she was just 12-years-old. He was sent to jail and later took his own life but years later his son Leo King (Tom Wells) dropped onto the Square to avenge his father. After months of torment, Leo was murdered by Whitney last week in a last ditch attempt to get rid of him forever.

However, actress Shona has revealed this isn’t the end of Whitney’s heartache and there is a lot more to come for the damaged market-stall holder.

As viewers know, Leo arrived on the square but it wasn’t until a lot later Whitney found out who he really was, and by that time it was too late.

Whitney fell in love with the new boy on the street, but just before the two went on a weekend away, it was revealed he was in fact rapist Tony’s son.

But this didn’t scare Leo away and since then he took over one of the market stalls and has been living in Whitney’s loft unbeknownst to her.

Leo met a brutal end on Friday night as Whitney stabbed him in the heart when he tried to attack her.

The actress has now revealed what is coming up for Whitney as the soap enters a week of drama to celebrate 35 years of EastEnders, which will see one iconic character die.

Speaking to The Mirror, Shona said: “Whitney likes to think that it’s over but deep down she knows it’s not because even though Leo’s gone, he’s still going to win.”

She continued: “Whitney has now killed someone and whatever happens next, that’s not something she can ever forget. I think it could change Whitney forever.”

The actress went on to explain, Whitney is going to feel a lot of guilt over the coming week, but how will she act on it?

Shona said: “Whitney feels distraught and is completely broken, she doesn’t know which way to turn.”

Despite her killing him in self-defence, will she run away from it all or face up to her problems at last?

In upcoming scenes and in a fit of panic Whitney will call Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) to help her in the wake of Leo’s murder.

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) who has been battling an alcohol addiction will see Whitney and Mick and start getting paranoid.

As viewers know, Whitney and Mick had an affair years ago, but with Linda drinking around the clock it’s not helping her paranoia.

Mick and Linda’s marriage has been crumbling under the pressure of the landladies erratic behaviour and even put their son Ollie in deadly danger when she fell asleep after drinking.

But with a death on the horizon, will one of them be the victims or will it bring them back together?

Tomorrow night will kickstart a week of drama as the Albert Square residents all get on a boat to celebrate the Queen Vic winning a Best Pub award.

The cast has been sworn to secrecy and very few details have been spilt, but Shona said it was a very different experience than acting on the Square.

She said: “It was cold and wet but it was cinematic, dramatic and it felt like you were doing a really big film.

“I absolutely loved it! You feel like you’re all doing something so different, it was very heightened.”

EastEnders continues on BBC One tomorrow at 8pm.
