EastEnders: Kathy says she wants Ian Beale at the wedding
Kathy Beale (played by Gillian Taylforth) is set to tie the knot in upcoming EastEnders scenes, and some preview pictures of the episode have left fans stunned by the actress’ real age.
Gillian, 68, has portrayed the classic character since the very beginning of the soap, with Kathy among the original cast from 1985, and while the character has become iconic, fans couldn’t believe the star’s age as they saw some first-look pictures of the upcoming Albert Square wedding.
“Even at nearly 70 Kathy is still by far the most beautiful woman on EastEnders,” one fan commented after seeing snaps of Kathy dressed up to the nines for her marriage to Tom “Rocky” Cotton (Brian Conley).
“Kathy/Gillian has definitely got a portrait in her attic she looks incredible, good genes I would say plus she takes care of herself,” another fan commented.
Another asked: “How is Gillian nearly 68 and looks like that! Has she had work done?”

In a teaser clip on EastEnders’ official Twitter, Kathy can be seen preparing for her big day with the help of newcomer Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).
As the guests file into the church, Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) can be heard gossiping about a mystery woman, stating: “She could be one of Rocky’s cast off lovers who’s hoping he will change his mind at the last minute and whisk her away.”
In typical EastEnders fashion, Kathy’s wedding day is likely going to end up seeing a few twists and turns.

Another clip shows the locals of Walford preparing the Square for the big day with bunting and balloons.
As Rocky emerges from the window, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) screeches: “Congratulations, Rocky,” while Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) states: “Today’s the day, baby!”
As Kathy also pokes her head out of her window, a panicked Jean orders her not to look at her groom and demands she close the curtains.
“You’re not supposed to see each other before the wedding!” She yells before Kathy replies: “It’s alright Jean. we’ve had our fair share of bad luck, ain’t we Rocky?”
Could the bride have inadvertently jinxed her special day?
