EastEnders newcomers Molly Rainford and Francesca Henry have proved they are just as close off-screen as they are on after they were spotted shopping together in North London during a day off.
Molly and Francesca came into the show last month as Anna and Gina Knight along with their dad George. They moved to Walford from Marbella to join George’s girlfriend and Linda Carter’s mum, Elaine Peacock, in running The Queen Vic.
On joining the show, executive producer Chris Clenshaw explained the Knights have been "bound together for years" and moving to Albert Square creates "the fresh-start the Knights are looking for".
Molly announced her arrival with an Instagram post with the caption: “So excited for life in Walford with my new family “The Knights” & Can’t wait for you guys to meet Anna!”
And it looks like Molly and her on-screen sister Francesca have grown close since being cast, with the pair looking like they were having a lovely day shopping as they took a break from filming.
Molly opted for some relaxed tie-dye joggers while Francesca went for a monochrome look as they made their way down the street, chatting away.
Prior to joining the show, Molly shot to stardom after coming runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing with Carlos Gu last year. Before that, Molly was a regular presenter for CBBC on Friday Download in 2014.
In 2019, she switched to acting for CBBC, landing a part in Millie Inbetween before joining the series Nova Jones as the title character.
Her on-screen sister, Francesca Henry appeared in Doctors, The Chelsea Detective and Silent Witness before bagging the role as Gina.
The Knights have always had a cloud hanging over them because of their missing mother ‘Rose Knight’. But what the audience learned is that Anna and Gina’s mother is actually Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins.
Meanwhile, Anna and Gina have tried to befriend the locals at the market, but didn't make a great first impression on arrival – even with their pet dog, Tyson.
Cindy was presumed dead for 25-years until the shocking episode last month that revealed she has been in witness protection all this time. It’s unclear why Cindy walked out on the Knights, but it coincides with the year of Lucy Beale’s death.
At some point, Cindy ended up reuniting with Ian and living with him and Peter Beale in France. It’s been confirmed that they will all be back on Albert Square very soon.
About her return Michelle said: “We filmed everything on location about six weeks ago and I'm actually now filming back on the Square, so that felt very different.
“Now I'm kind of right in there and it's surreal. It's very nerve-wracking, but it's also very exciting.”
Back in Walford, Anna is keen on cracking the case of her missing mum and next week she hires a private investigator to track her down leading to clashes between the two barmaids.
However, when Gina finds out what her sister is up to, the pair clash and Gina turns back to drugs.
When Anna finds out her sister is struggling, she decides to call off the search. But her private detective calls and reveals he's had a positive lead in the search. Could he have found Cindy’s whereabouts?
