Does Nina die in Coronation Street and is Mollie Gallagher leaving?

Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) is subjected to a violent and brutal attack alongside boyfriend Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) in Coronation Street this week.

The mainstay of the ITV soap will be assaulted by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) in horrific scenes set to air Wednesday (May 5).

The hard-hitting story will have similarities to what happened to Sophie Lancaster in 2007.

Sophie and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were set upon and beaten in a park simply because of the way they looked. As a consequence of the attack, Sophie sadly died from her injuries.

Nina has certainly become a popular character since her arrival on the cobbles nearly two years ago, but given that she’s subjected to such a violent attack in upcoming scenes, fans of the long-running serial drama are no doubt wondering if she will die.

Does Nina die in Coronation Street?

It is unknown for certain as to whether or not Nina will die following the attack, but spoilers for next week indicate that she does survive.

This Friday’s edition of the ITV soap sees Nina wake up following her surgery, but she is unable to remember much about the assault.

Next week, Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) quizzes her some more, but she explained that it’s all still a blur.

Speaking about the scenes in which Nina is attacked, Mollie told ‘‘I remember filming it and you can feel the panic.

‘When we were filming it, there was something about the day which did feel a bit intimidating – I think because it was just me and Harry [Visinoni] against a big group of people.’

Coronation Street continues Wednesday May 5 at 7:30pm on ITV.
