Did Farrah Abraham Make the Most Money on 'Teen Mom'?

Whether you’ve watched MTV’s Teen Mom or not, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Farrah Abraham. This reality star began her career on 16 and Pregnant, and since then, the network’s audience has watched both her and her daughter grow for years. And it hasn’t all been pleasant, either, as Farrah faced significant backlash from both fans and the other cast members for her drama and seemingly bad attitude.

Now, Farrah’s been fired from the Teen Mom franchise due to her involvement in the adult film industry and her rudeness toward the show’s staff. And Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin’s daughter, has taken her place. But did Farrah make the most money out of any of her co-stars despite her firing? Here’s the truth.

Farrah reportedly made around $30,000 per episode of Teen Mom

She was one of the original cast members of the show, which means Farrah was a part of the MTV franchise from 2009 all the way to 2018. She was also reportedly in over 60 episodes of the show, which is no small number. And for around $30,000 per episode, Farrah certainly made a ton of money from Teen Mom alone. While she made a lot of money from her other reality TV appearances and business ventures, it was MTV that offered her the most cash flow in those nine years.

Nowadays, even though Farrah is no longer affiliated with Teen Mom, her net worth is still way higher than that of her previous co-stars. In 2018, her total estimated worth stands between $3-6 million.

How much were her co-stars making?

While Farrah’s co-stars were with MTV for just as long as she was, Farrah utilized her branding and marketing techniques to make a ton of money outside of the show. As for what her co-stars made on the show, here’s how they all compared:

Maci Bookout:

Radar Online reports Maci makes around $25,000 per episode. As for Maci’s ex, Ryan Edwards, he was also making around $25,000 per episode. This is no small sum for each of them — and her net worth has definitely built up over the years. According to The Net Worth Portal, today, she’s probably worth around $2.5 million.

In the beginning, she certainly wasn’t this wealthy, however. She even commented on her previous lack of money in her book, Bulletproof, In Touch Weekly reports. She wrote, “Everyone knows your name and talks about you, but there’s no red-carpet prestige or glamorous piles of money. … The fact is, my real life isn’t that much different from what it would have been without MTV.”

Amber Portwood:

Like Maci, Radar Online also reports that Amber Portwood makes around $25,000 per episode. And we also got a glimpse into Amber’s salary when she was in court for domestic violence. It was revealed that she was paid $140,000 per sixth-month contract back in 2011 — and we imagine since then, her salary has also gone up. Today, that probably means she’s making between $250,000 to $500,000.

As for her net worth, it’s not nearly as much as Farrah’s and still less than Maci’s too. The Squander reports it’s probably somewhere around $1 million.

Catelynn Lowell:

She’s certainly a favorite on the show, and she also reportedly makes around $25,000 per episode. And since her husband, Tyler, is also a regular on the show, together, their dual income is more than enough to support their family. In addition to Teen Mom, Catelynn and Tyler have also made appearances on Couple’s Therapy.

Several outlets claimed Catelynn’s net worth was just $20,000, but The Squander notes that’s been significantly increased over the years. It’s estimated that, per year, the couple is taking in at least half a million dollars.

Is Bristol getting paid as much as Farrah was?

Bristol is the Teen Mom newcomer — and while she’s taking Farrah’s spot in the cast, many wondered if she’d be paid the same amount as Farrah was. Reports claim that for her first season, she’ll be paid $250,000. And if she signs on for multiple seasons after the first one, she’ll be offered an additional $50,000 per season. That’s no small number — but Bristol allegedly was hoping for even more money during her initial signing on.

It seems Farrah was making more from Teen Mom by the end of the show, though it took her time to earn that money. We’re sure Bristol will also earn a higher MTV salary with time.
