Ali Neeson packed his bags and attempted to flee the cobbles after revealing to his mum Michelle Connor that he killed Ronan Truman.
Michelle was told to head over to the police station to give a new statement as the officers found new evidence about Ronan’s death.
They found a gun in the glove compartment, and thought more about whether Ronan would have been able to remove the spike from his own body after the crash, with it ultimately leading to his death.
After a blazing row between Michelle and Ali, he revealed what happened, before deciding to pack his bags and flee from Weatherfield to save his skin.
Later, Michelle headed over to the police station, having told Ali she would be telling the truth and getting hm banged up for murder.
But in the end, it did not happen, as she intercepted his attempts to drive away to tell him she covered for him, as she did for Ryan over the death of Cormac.
The pair opened up to one another, as Ali said: "Who knows what you might do in the future, one little argument…
"It was someone’s son, someone’s brother, maybe had other kids, Imight have taken him away from them forever.
"I had no right to do what I did. I had no right at all, I’m supposed to be a doctor for crying out loud, saving people’s lives."
Michelle opened up about how she considered ending her life when Ruairi, Michelle and Steve McDonald’s son, died as he was premature.
She explained how she sat on the top of a bridge, and it was only through Robert Preston being strong for her and helping her through.
Ali ended up sticking around, as Michelle promised the pair would keep each other strong, refusing to tell the truth to even Ryan or Robert.
