Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) has everything going to plan when it comes to undermining Carla Connor (Alison King) and sending her into a spiral in Coronation Street.
And in scenes to air in the coming week, it’s clear that the impact of his sinister behaviour will continue to take its toll.
As Carla returns to the factory, her workforce check on her but she insists she’s fine.
But the after effects of Stephen’s drugging of her cause her to smash a mug and accidentally cut herself.
This gives her employees more concern that she is not ready to return to work but Carla, not knowing that Stephen is behind it, is determined not to let her state of mind prevent her return to normality.
This fightback from Carla is going to prompt even more drastic action from the Street’s latest serial killer.
Keen to imply to everyone that Carla is a danger to herself and others, he drugs her once more and lets himself into her flat.
Turning on the grill and leaving Carla where she is, he leaves the flat and proves how far he is willing to go to get his slimy mitts on Underworld.
Right now, Carla doesn’t have any sense of what’s going on – but if she were to catch Stephen, could she become the next victim?
Or might she be the one to bring him down?
Show boss Iain MacLeod recently confirmed that Stephen would indeed get his comeuppance, so either way, his time is slowly running out.
