BGT hit by ‘fix’ claims after mum gives up audition for daughter

Emotional Mum gives up audition for daughter

Britain’s Got Talent viewers were treated to a spine-tingling performance on Saturday night after a mother gave up her audition for her daughter.

Claire, 33, took to the stage before judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonnioli.

She explained that she wanted to give her audition slot to her 15-year-old daughter Tia. She said: “She thinks it’s me who’s auditioning,”

“She’s got me through some very hard times in my life and I feel like I owe her, so I’m giving my audition up for my daughter.

“This is my way of saying she’s fabulous because she deserves it and she’s an incredible person.”

Tia then wowed the judges with her rendition of I Didn’t Know My Own Strength by Whitney Houston.

However, many fans were not convinced that the segment was real and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Jeanette said: “This was very obviously fixed from the start. The girl knew she was going to audition.”

However, not all fans were so dubious as BevFink said: “Wow her voice is mature beyond her years. Fab.”

Despite fans questioning the producers, the judges couldn’t get enough.

Amanda said that Tia had “absolutely smashed it” and had a “massive career” ahead of her.

Bruno described the performance as incredible “because you can tell you were singing from your soul.”

Simon added: “That’s how you do it. I really love moments like this, you didn’t know you were going to audition, your mum set you up, I’ll just sing Whitney Houston then, like it’s normal.

“That’s very sweet what you did for your daughter because I’m guessing without you doing that she wouldn’t have auditioned. I absolutely loved this audition.”

Some Britain’s Got Talent fans were also quick to spot that talented Tia draws in tens of thousands of followers on her TikTok account.

At the time of writing, the teen has a whopping 59,400 followers.

Her singing videos have clocked up tens of thousands of views, whilst a video of Tia and her mum singing has more than 600,000 views.

ITV has been approached for comment.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
