BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay forced to apologise for live blunder – leaving Sally Nugent in stitches | The Sun

BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay was forced to apologise for a live blunder after leaving co-star Sally Nugent in stitches.

Presenter Jon made a huge blunder on Tuesday morning after he accidentally told viewers the wrong time.

It was six thirty in the morning when Jon began: "It's coming up to half-past eight… six! Sorry."

The BBC Breakfast host was red-faced as he realised he'd got the time wrong during the live show.

He looked down and seemed rather shocked after spotting the blunder himself.

Sitting next to him on the famous red sofa, co-host Sally was unable to compose herself and began to giggle.

But the mistake was quickly corrected and Jon told viewers "not to panic" – just incase viewers were worried they were running late for work.

The presenting duo took it in good humour and laughed it off.

It comes after fans were left stunned after Jon shared a 25-year-old throwback picture with the Neighbours cast.

Last week, the show paid tribute to the Australian soap on its final day of filming before coming to an end after 37 years.

Taking to Twitter, the 52-year-old shared a number of throwback pictures from when he was backpacking in Australia when he was in his 20s.

He captioned them: "Loving the #Neighbours nostalgia on @BBCBreakfast.

"This is me backpacking in Melbourne 25 years ago and bumping into the *actual* Kennedys filming on the *actual* Ramsay Street!"

In one snap, Jon happily posed alongside Neighbours stars Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne, who play Karl and Susan Kennedy.

Another picture saw him with his mouth wide open as he posed on Ramsay Street.

Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: "Quality, you look so excited."

Another added: "You look sooo young…. and a bit Australian… I can see you with a surfboard under your arm (on a sunnier day!)"

A third tweeted: "I LOVE this!!"

Neighbours first aired on March 18, 1985 and became a huge hit in the UK.

It originally aired on BBC One before moving to Channel 5 in 2008.

However, The Sun revealed in February that it was being axed after Channel 5 spent weeks in talks with producers at Fremantle Australia to try to find a way to keep the much-loved soap on air — but failed to strike a deal.
