BBC Breakfast viewers were thrilled after being shown the "greatest news story ever."

Presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt returned to the red sofa for Saturday's (August 13) instalment to give fans their daily dose of morning news.

Veering away from their usual talking points, the conversation was turned to a bear cub that got "more than they bargained for" after consuming "mad honey."

The bear was rescued from Turkey after eating a hallucinogenic concoction which left her "wobbling and whining and looking high."

With images and clips of the "high" bear sprawled out in the back of a truck, viewers took to social media to commend the BBC show for sharing the "greatest story ever."

One amused fan wrote: "Can we have more coverage of the bear of her t*** please #BBCBreakfast."

"A Bear off their t*** on drugs is the greatest news story ever. More of this please #BBCBreakfast," exclaimed another as a third added: "Poor little bear. It was so funny."

The somewhat disorientated bear was taken to a hospital in Turkey to receive treatment.

It's been said that the brown bear cup is in good condition and will be released back into the wild in the coming days.

"Honey girl is what they named her," Naga chimed with a beaming smile on her face.

Charlie, 60, quipped: "It's such an extraordinary image, that shot at the end there."

Naga interjected: "I think that's an image that a lot of people can relate to."
