After the band’s album ‘Fear Inoculum’ dethroned Taylor’s ‘Lover’ on the weekly chart, Maynard James Keenan shares on a meme showing him as Thanos dusting her with the Infinity Gauntlet.
AceShowbiz –Tool has every right to celebrate their win on Billboard 200, though its frontman’s way to celebrate the achievement doesn’t sit well with many people, especially fans of Taylor Swift. This is because Maynard James Keenan chose to roast the country-turned-pop superstar after his band took over the No. 1 spot on the weekly chart with “Fear Inoculum”.
Taking to Twitter, Maynard shared a meme showing him as Thanos dusting Taylor with the Infinity Gauntlet, a clear reference to the famous scene in “Avengers: Infinity War“. He simply captioned the photo, “Heh,” along with a couple hashtags that read, “Comedy first and always,” as well as “Lighten Up or Jogon.”
Fans of the “ME!” singer, naturally, flooded the comment section to attack him over the meme. “Wait I just found out this clown is actually the lead singer of Tool band. Really men pushing 70 having no dignity, dissing their superiors in the game? You are happy about dethroning her when your entire discography combined was outsold by her album ‘1989’ LMFAO,” one pointed out. Someone else dubbed his action “immature,” adding, “Just say you’re jealous of Taylor’s success and go.”
Another said, “Taylor has the best selling album of the year & your numbers this week don’t come close to her 1st wk,” before adding that Post Malone would be ruling the chart next week with his third album “Hollywood’s Bleeding”. One other simply blasted him, “Man is so fragile LMAO.”
Taylor, meanwhile, has yet to respond to the diss.
Tool’s “Fear Inoculum” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 this week, dethroning Taylor’s “Lover”. This was undeniably an incredible achievement for the band, given that they managed to sell a lot of units without the assistance of a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer, any sort of album pre-order access code promotion or a single merchandise/album bundle.
