The Chase’s Jenny Ryan slams social media troll after nasty comment about her

One of the stars of hit daytime quiz show The Chase has fired back at a social media troll after they made a nasty comment about her during an episode.

The quiz supremo, known as "The Vixen" on the ITV show, was responding to a tweet aimed her way by the troll on Wednesday afternoon.

In the nasty comment, the user mentioned Jenny, writing: "Jenny the banterless does stand up comedy. What could possibly go wrong? Lol."

It caught her attention, with Jenny blurring out the username while responding with "Well, I already got one laugh out of you and I wasn't even trying!"

Jenny was supported by a number of people in replies.

One fan said: "Ignore them Jenny they can be so rude."

Another wrote: "I think this person has used someone else’s profile picture – awful and rude."

And a third replied: "I love how some random cretin on Twitter who doesn't know you whatsoever assumes you've got no banter when they know nothing about you."

It's the second time in the last few days Jenny has found herself getting abused by people – after a contestant on the show made a rude comment about her quizzing abilities.

The popular ITV game show returned on Monday night (June 20) with a repeat episode from Series 12 in 2018.

It saw contestants Liz, Richard, Ash and Jessica step into the studio to try their luck against Chaser Paul Sinha, who now hosts his own ITV trivia show called Paul Sinha's TV Showdown.

But Liz angered viewers when she walked up to the podium and seemed to question Jenny's quizzing skills – by claiming she would be the easiest chaser to beat.

The New Zealand native had managed to bank £6,000 in her cashbuilder before Bradley asked her who she'd like to face.

Liz replied: "Perhaps Shaun, because he's a barrister and I used to be a barrister and solicitor, or The Vixen because I think she'd be the easiest to beat."

Fans were not best pleased at the player's assessment and protested against it on Twitter during the episode.

One wrote: "Jenny the easiest to beat! Complete nonsense."

Another fan replied to the thread saying: "Really? I thought that was Shaun."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
