Strictly Come Dancing’s Vanessa Feltz ‘fell deeply in love’ with James Jordan

Vanessa Feltz has revealed she "fell deeply in love" with her dance partner James Jordan during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The broadcaster, 60, appeared on the BBC One series in 2013.

In a recent column for The Sun, Vanessa discussed last year's winner Rose Ayling-Ellis splitting from her boyfriend Samuel Arnold.

The EastEnders actress called time on her seven-year long relationship earlier this month.

Speculating that the Strictly curse was responsible, Vanessa recalled her own "eye opening experience" with the phenomenon after falling "deeply in love" with James.

She said: "When I took part in Strictly, I didn't think the curse applied to me.

"I was 51, had been with my partner Ben Ofoedu for about seven years and was amply satisfied at home.

"I didn't think my professional dance partner would fancy me — or that I could possibly fancy them but for about three or four days, I was deeply in love with James.

"I thought, 'I love you more than anyone I’ve ever met.'"

Vanessa later confirmed that while she was "absolutely bedazzled" with James, she quickly realised their relationship should remain professional.

Sharing her opinion that the Strictly curse has a "grim, rather sinister inevitability", the This Morning contributor added: "It's not that you fall in love with your partner on Strictly, or that you don't love your own partner at home.

"It's that Strictly is like a catapult that turns you into a different person.

"You're suddenly this big star that you weren't before. and then you look at your partner and whatever you had in common before, you haven't got in common now.

"I do feel for the celebrities' trusting, hopeful partners who have zero idea of the calamitous effect Strictly is going to have on their lives."

Amid her split from Samuel, Rose was recently pictured with her former Strictly dance partner Giovanni Pernice in his hometown of Sicily.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday, September 24 on BBC One.
