Spencer Morgan hits out at GMB’s Alex Beresford for ‘trying to boost career’

Spencer Morgan has taken aim at Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford for "taking such an easy chance to boost his career."

The 27-year-old son of Piers Morgan, who has been sharing his thoughts on his dad's departure from GMB on Twitter, appeared to hit out at Beresford following his debate with Piers.

Spencer's remarks came after an eventful day yesterday at ITV, during which Alex was praised by viewers after condemning Piers Morgan's reporting on Meghan Markle.

Alex branded Piers' actions 'diabolical' and the outspoken presenter stormed off the set before it was announced that he had left his role at Good Morning Britain altogether.

Hours after ITV confirmed that Piers had decided to step away from GMB, Spencer took to social media to share his thoughts.

"Only direct thoughts on these: Harry/meg: stunning PR job," Spencer began.

He added: "Well played Alex weatherman: always got on with him, can’t hate on a guy for taking such an easy chance to boost his career.

He then mentioned the Queen alongside a goat emoji, before finishing with: "The concept of debate: RIP."

In another tweet, Spencer then threw his support behind his dad, adding: "The comeback will be greater than the setback @piersmorgan."

Spencer's comments came shortly after ITV producers confirmed that Piers had quit the show after refusing to apologise on-air for his recent swipes at Meghan Markle.

On Tuesday, Ofcom also launched an investigation into GMB and ITV after it received over 41,000 complaints following Piers Morgan's behaviour.

It was during Tuesday morning's show that Alex called Piers out for the way he had attacked Meghan Markle across numerous shows.

Just one day after Piers said he didn't "believe a word [Meghan] says" Alex called out the presenter for continuing to "trash" Meghan Markle after she cut him off.

Piers then furiously stormed off set, before returning to continue his dispute with the weatherman.

Following the on-air spat, Alex was applauded for keeping his cool and calmly approaching the situation. Several viewers also called for Alex to replace Piers outright.

The weatherman later broke his silence on the events, and wrote on Twitter: "It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us to feel more comfortable."
