Saturdays star Una Healy hit ‘rock bottom’ when marriage to Ben Foden broke down

Una Healy has revealed that her divorce from rugby ace Ben Foden left her at rock bottom.

The Saturdays singer, 38, said she was no longer feeling "sad about her past" before adding that she had felt lonely after her marriage broke down.

Despite being with her two children, Aoife, eight and Tadhg, five, during the lockdown period, she admitted to feeling "lonely".

Una has now returned to her hometown of Thurles, Ireland, and is "delighted" to be surrounded by friends and family.

Speaking to Matthew Dillon on his podcast, Sippin' The Tea, Una opened up on the ending of her marriage.

The Wild Grasses songstress ended her marriage in 2018 after Ben had cheated on her.

Rochelle Humes' bandmate said she has now learnt to "love herself" – a lesson which she said is "important".

Speaking about getting over her heartbreak, Una told Matthew: "It's hard and it's horrible, but it just takes a bit of time really – that's what I'd say to anyone.

"I was divorced this time last year, married for six years, and I have two children from the relationship, which is the positive which came out of that relationship."

She added: "The great thing about life experience, I've got so much to write about.

"But I wanna be a bit more positive and excited about my future, rather than being sad about my past.

"You have to go right down to come right back up. And there's only one way you can go when you're at right rock bottom and that's up.

"I was at rock-bottom but I'm on the way up now."

Teasing fans, Una revealed: "I want to put a body of work together, I'm going away from the folk and going a bit more pop, a bit more country."

When probed about her recent mini-Saturdays reunion, she continued: "We're like sisters really, any time we get together it's like we've never been apart.

"I won't say split, because we're on hiatus, I hope we do a reunion, I would love to do one.

"Mollie said she would pull on the tights again."

Sippin' The Tea premieres on YouTube at 5pm GMT this evening.
