This week the legendary band Genesis will kickstart their latest tour in the UK, The Last Domino? Tour. Over the next few months the band, fronted by Phil Collins, will be touring through Britain before crossing the pond and performing a string of shows in the US. Before the band set off, however, Collins revealed this will be his last time performing.
Speaking in a new interview, Collins said: “This English and American tour, that will be enough for me.” (Via Mojo)
The drummer’s comments follow him telling BBC Breakfast that he could no longer drum.
He said at the time: “No. I’d love to, but you know, I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand. So there are certain physical things that get in the way.”
The In The Air Tonight drummer then referred to his son, Nic Collins, adding: “I’m kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son.
In an interview with The Guardian earlier this month Collins revealed he will be taking to the stage seated.
Collins said: “Of course, my health does change things, doing the show seated changes things.
“But I actually found on my recent solo tours, it didn’t get in the way; the audience were still listening and responding. It’s not the way I would have written it, but it’s the way that it is.”
Keyboardist for the band, Tony Banks, gave a less concrete answer on the band’s future.

Tony said: “I think it depends a little bit how it goes. How Phil stands up to it all. How the audience receive it, and how we all feel about it, really.”
Collins also stated how this 2021/2022 tour is a way of putting the band “to bed”.
He said: “Yeah, well you know, you say things. I mean, we’re all men of our age and I think to some extent yeah, I think it probably is putting it to bed.
“Just generally, for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road anymore.”
Collins is 70-years-old and has been drumming with Genesis since 1970.
After the rousing success of the band, Collins went solo throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
On his own, Collins found further fame with some massive hit singles, including In The Air Tonight, Sussudio and One More Night.
Throughout his career the musician has won eight Grammy Awards.
