Michael Jackson was not known as being the kind of man who did things conventionally. In fact, his music, performance skills and in some ways, his personal life, often pushed the boundaries. Despite this, he did have three children and, according to them, was as normal as a father could be – but who is Paris’ mother?
Paris Jackson is Michael Jackson’s second child and only daughter, born to him and his second wife Debbie Rowe on April 3, 1998.
Michael married Debbie, a dermatology nurse, while he was on tour in Sydney, Australia on November 13, 1996.
The pair had met while Michael claimed to have been being treated for vitiligo by dermatologist Arnold Klein, who became a close friend of his.
According to J Randy Taraborrelli’s book, Michael Jackson: The Magic The Madness, The Whole Story, Debbie was six months pregnant with his first child at the time of their wedding.
The pair had their first child very quickly, with Debbie giving birth to Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, who is commonly known as Prince, on February 13, 1997, after which Paris-Michael Katherine was born.
Shortly after the children’s births in 1999, Michael and Debbie divorced, but the star had full custody of the children.
Debbie attempted to fight this agreement in 2004 when she went back to court to reverse the decision after the singer was subject to allegations of sexual abuse.
The pair came to a settlement, and Michael was acquitted of the 10 charges in 2005.
Debbie made further comments about Michael after his death when she claimed the pair never had sex and their relationship was closer to her being his “thoroughbred.”
In 2009 she said: “Michael was divorced, lonely and wanted children. I was the one who said to him, ‘I will have your babies’.
“I offered him my womb – it was a gift. It was something I did to keep him happy.”
Other than his children with Debbie, Michael also had a son, Blanket, via an anonymous surrogate.
What does Paris Jackson do now?
Paris has a very prominent social media presence, posting all about her celebrity life and work.
She calls herself a “musician, lightworker, treehugger, activist” on her social media platforms, and has done some performing in her life.
The 22-year-old model and actress first appeared in TV series about her father such as Living with Michael Jackson, but her first acting role as Rachel in TV series Star in 2017.
After this, and after appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2017, Paris played Nelly in the movie Gringo in 2018 and has landed the role of Cory in new movie The Space Between.
However, more recently she has stepped into her father’s shoes as a singer, going on tour with the band The Sound Flowers.
Of course, while she may do some TV and other work, she is best known for her father and was first seen in the spotlight at his televised memorial service, where she appeared alongside her brothers.
However, along with them, she has tried to create her own path into her own spotlight.
