Melinda Messenger rejected Batman and Spider-Man as she set her sights on Iron Man
The former Page 3 pin-up dominated the 1990s and batted off advanced from a number of Hollywood stars.
This week she celebrated her 50th birthday and revealed some of her more marvellous romantic encounters.
The star blew off advances from Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire, as well as Batman's Val Kilmer.
But she has admitted that the only superhero she really fancied was Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.
Speaking to The Sun she said: “I had some great times. I got chatted up by Spider-Man and Batman and blew them both out. Once I found myself at a party after a film premiere with Tobey and he started chatting me up.
“He kept coming up to me. I was with a couple of friends and he was dancing with me and I didn’t know who he was. His PR came up and said, ‘That’s Spider-Man’, and did we want to go out on a date? I just freaked out and panicked so I blew him out. I had a boyfriend anyway at the time.
“On another occasion, Val Kilmer asked me out on a date via my agent. And again I was just sitting at home thinking, ‘Oh my god, is that Batman?’. And I had a crush on him at the time but I blew him out too.
Coming soon… a whole new look into the world of Daily Star's Page 3
“The person I really wanted was Robert Downey Jr, who played Tony Stark, in Iron Man. Ironically, he’s probably exactly the type I attract that I was saying I shouldn’t be with.”
The still-stunning star has revealed that she is happy being single following two failed relationships.
Her daughter told her that if she wants to find her perfect man she should start taking trips to her local library.
“What I really need is a sensitive, quiet one. My daughter Evie says I need to start hanging out in libraries. She says if I want to meet someone with the same vibe as me I need to get myself down the library. But that’s not going to work, is it?” she said.

“I’m currently single, I attract the wrong sort of men. I’m an introverted extrovert. People think I’m a good-time glamour girl but I’m not. Blokes who want a trophy girlfriend go for me but they’re not my type.”
She has turned 50 with a smile on her face and is welcoming what life brings her.
She said: “I feel completely happy about being 50. I’m really quite chuffed about it. I kind of see it as a bit of an accolade. There can be a bit of a grief losing your younger years but I’ve always felt that I lived life to its fullest.
