A blaze has reportedly broken out near Windsor on the set of the sequel of the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power television series.

Photos shared on social media show smoke plumes billowing in the air from the famous Bray Studios in Berkshire after an explosion ripped through a workshop on the film set.

Staff and onlookers can be seen standing outside in some photos, with them watching on as firefighters tackle the blaze.

In photos shared online, there were also a number of actors dressed in costume as well as film crew members and security guards wandering around after being evacuated.

Onlookers could be seen watching on in horror as plumes of smoke covered the sky.

In the background of some of the photos, fire engines could be spotted at the scene as smoke surrounded the area.

The blaze ripped through a single storey warehouse as the second series of the hotly anticipated The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV series was being filmed.

Daily Star contacted Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue service, with them releasing a statement.

The statement read: "At 12:26pm on Monday, 3 April, we received reports of a fire at Bray Studios near Windsor.

"At this time, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bracknell, Slough and Maidenhead Fire Stations have been sent to the scene.

"Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a single storey warehouse.

"Firefighters remain at the scene of the incident. Further updates will be provided when available."

This comes as the second series of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power vegan filming in earlier this year, with it set to be released in 2024.

For the filming of the series, an ornate and heavily detailed castle set had been constructed, as well as a courtyard, water feature and an archway.
