Elton John spotted at Watford match as he enjoys down time from final world tour

Sir Elton John may be one of the biggest music icons of all time but he's still not forgotten his roots.

The I'm Still Standing singer, 74, was seen enjoying a day at the football on Saturday as he took his sons to watch his beloved Watford FC take to the pitch.

The Hornets took on Swansea City at Vicarage Road in the final game of the Championship.

Luckily for Elton, his team beat their rivals 2-0 prompting him to fist pump the air.

Sir Elton, previously was the owner and chairman of the club for the decade between 1970 and 1980.

During his time at the helm they rose from the Fourth Division to the First Division.

Despite stepping down as chairman in 2002, the Sine From Above superstar is still heavily involved with the club, though due to his ongoing Farewell YellowBrick Road tour hasn't been at a home game for quite some time.

Elton kicked off his mammoth world tour in September 2018, promising they would be his final shows on the road.

But while Elton is hanging up his touring hat, he's not completely ready to give up the stage just yet.

Speaking to Daily Star, his husband David Furnish explained: "Elton has been doing it for 50 years now, he won’t ever stop performing but he won’t go from place to place to place.

"I don’t think he should stop totally either as he is an amazing live performer but you won’t be coming to a town near most people ever again.

"Yes, he would possibly do a residency again,” David admitted.

"He loves the idea of doing a few nights in London or something like that but he doesn’t want to travel.

"I think when you do two years and 300 shows I think the immediate thing after that is just to take some time off and reflect and reset."
