Daniel Kaluuya thanked his parents for having sex in his acceptance speech after taking home the gong for Best Supporting Actor at the 2021 Oscars.
The 32-year-old won the award for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah but in his excitement he overshared slightly about his parents.
"We have to celebrate life man – we're breathing in, it's incredible," he said.
"Like it's incredible – my mum and my dad had sex – and now I’m here! It's amazing.”
"I'm so happy to be alive," he added. "So I'm going to celebrate that tonight.”
The camera proceeded to cut to his mother, Damalie Namusoke, who was watching from BFI Southbank in London, looking mortified, mouthing: “What’s he talking about?”
The moment quickly went viral on Twitter, with people sharing screenshots of Daniel’s mum’s reaction.
“‘My parents had sex’ is one of the best lines I’ve ever heard in an acceptance speech,” said one fan.
Another commented: “Daniel Kaluuya’s mom’s face during that moment was priceless.”
A third chimed in: “Incredible that we get to see the real-time reaction from Daniel Kaluuya’s mother as he talks about his parents having sex.”

Film festival director Kaleem Aftab hilariously tweeted: “I have met Daniel Kaluuya’s mum. She is gonna give him one hell of a beating. But I guess this is all we are gonna talk about all day tomorrow. Immediate classic.”
Backstage Daniel explained his words away as accidental in the moment, and admitted that his mum was “not going to be happy”.

He said: “It just came out of my mouth. My mom is probably going to text me. I really shouldn’t have said that. I am trying to avoid my phone for a bit. She is not going to be very happy."
But he added: "She has a great sense of humor. She is going to be cool.”
