Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Potts now – huge net worth to royal invitation

After a two-year hiatus, the nation’s favourite talent show is back and bigger than ever this year.

Britain’s Got Talent has brought forward so many eye-popping acts, including the likes of dance crew Diversity, the adorable dog act Ashleigh and Pudsey – and the iconic singer Susan Boyle.

However, the most memorable of all is the incredible Paul Potts, who was the first winner all the way back in 2007.

The Welsh opera singer took to the stage and captivated not only the judges, but the entire nation with his soaring vocals.

He performed in front of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan with a beautiful rendition of Puccini’s Nessa Dorma.

Before he won the hearts of millions, he had actually been leading a very humble life.

Paul worked as a manager for Carphone Warehouse, in Bridgend, and he lived in Port Talbot with his wife Julie-Ann, who hails from Swansea.

Julie and Paul met online, were wed in 2003 and have remained happily married ever since.

Paul is thought to be worth an eye-watering $10million (£7.96m), but he still chose to reside in his hometown of Port Talbot with his wife Julie.

Sadly, life before his earth-shattering performance was not always easy as young Paul was terribly bullied as a child from as young as just seven years old.

Paul had bricks thrown at him, which resulted in a terrible knock to his self-confidence.

The years’ worth of torment Paul suffered didn’t hold him back though, as he joined his school choir which built his self-worth up again.

Paul seemingly has always been destined to succeed, as before he even performed on BGT he was offered the once in a lifetime chance to sing in Italy alongside his lifetime hero, Luciano Pavarotti.

After winning BGT, he sang for Queen Elizabeth and was invited back to the Royal Albert Hall in 2012 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Royal Variety Performance.

Since his win, Paul’s career has gone from strength to strength as he released his debut album – called One Chance – which hit the number one in the UK charts.

He went on to tour the world across 85 global cities and became an international superstar, being invited to chat with Oprah Winfrey.

Paul released a further four studio albums and even had a biopic film made about him, in which he was played by James Corden, which was released in 2013 and named after his first hit album, One Chance.

The singer is still travelling the world, touring across Europe and recently featured on the Masked Singer as a cute koala in the German version, where he is set to perform next for his upcoming tour.

He kicks off his upcoming tour on November 5, and tours Germany and Denmark after having to cancel many dates due to covid restrictions.
