BBC Breakfast Sally Nugent on ‘mini break’ with co-star after split from husband

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent has gone on a girls' "mini break" with her co-star Carol Kirkwood.

The host and the show's weather presenter have shared an update on their breakaway on social media.

Sally took to Instagram to share the close-up snap of them both grinning ear to ear in the sun while both wearing statement shades.

The reporter then added a second picture taken through a patio door to show their abode for the night was positioned alongside a river.

Their accommodation looked as if it was set in a tranquil area and boasted a beautiful balcony looking out to the water.

She simply captioned the pic “I do love a mini break” and added a double heart emoji.

Their location is kept under wraps but the two appear to be having fun together in the sun.

This comes after it was reported that Sally has recently "amicably" split from her businessman husband Gavin Hawthorn.

They share a teenage son together and have decided to go their separate ways after 13 years of being wed.

According to MailOnline, Sally has been left "devastated" by the breakup.

An insider told the publication: "It's very sad but they are no longer together.

"I think they tried to tough it out for quite a while as they didn't want to split up if they could possibly help it for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn't make a go of it.

"They've both been very guarded about the reasons behind their growing apart but it's been plain for a while that they had been and now it's obvious that they haven't been able to resolve that despite clearly trying for some time."

Sally's glistening has propelled from starting out as a sports journalist to now sitting on the famous red sofa as a permanent presenter.

Her husband has since moved on from a senior marketing role at Pets at Home and moved into investing in a local franchise for The Massage Company.

The source added: "The contrast between their two media careers couldn't have been more stark."
