As anyone who is even sort of into astrology knows, you can match up the traits of the zodiac signs to pretty much any topic. Literally, you can plug the signs into almost anything. The best form of self-care? Yep, there’s a zodiac interpretation of that. Presents for special occasions? Of course. Bravo memes? You got it. And this also extends to music that suits each zodiac sign. Today we’re looking at Aquarius songs.
To start, we know Aquarians are said to be—at best—original, independent, thoughtful humanitarians, and—at worst—stubborn, temperamental, and distant. So, an Aquarian playlist is full of songs about being a confident, independent person who fights to change the world, mixed in with songs about how everyone is dumb and needs to just please go away. Plus, some songs from Aquarian singers, like Harry Styles, The Weeknd, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Get ready to get empowered… and then kinda bummed.
“Aquarius” – Tinashe
Starting with an obvious one, Tinashe is an Aquarius who released an album called Aquarius. It’s only right that the title track is included here.
“Independent Women, Pt. 1” – Destiny’s Child
Aquarians are all about being independent, and this hit from Destiny’s Child will forever be an anthem to just that.
“Run the World (Girls”) – Beyoncé
Beyoncé knows her way around a song about being strong, obviously.
“Born This Way” – Lady Gaga
Aquarians are described as original, eccentric, and true to themselves. Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” supports all of that.
“You Need to Calm Down” – Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift’s songs can often be pretty emotionally heavy and open, which is not always how Aquarians like to be. But “You Need to Calm Down” should appeal to Aquarians’ need for peace.
“Fantasy” – Mariah Carey
It’s a song that involves daydreaming, off an album called “Daydream.” A daydream-y Aquarius can relate.
“Sign of the Times” – Harry Styles
Harry Styles is an Aquarius himself, and his song “Sign of the Times” is very thoughtful about comparing the past to the future. Know who likes deep thoughts and introspection? Aquarians.
“Big Yellow Taxi” – Joni Mitchell
Aquarians also are known for being humanitarians and caring about the environment, so here’s a song about humans screwing up nature.
“Here” – Alessia Cara
Why be at a party with dumb people when you could just be by yourself with your far superior intellect at home? Alessia Cara might be a Cancer, but she gets it.
“Can’t Tell Me Nothing” – Kanye West
Basically, Aquarians always think they’re right. (I can say that. I am one.)
“Blinding Lights” – The Weeknd
The Weeknd is an Aquarius and that’s honestly the main reason this song makes the cut, but it is moody, like Aquarians can be at times.
“Whenever, Wherever” – Shakira
Shakira really channels her Aquarian-ness in “Whenever, Wherever” which is about love, but, like, an easygoing love that can exist any time, any place.
“Just a Girl” – No Doubt
A feminist anthem for an Aquarius who’s ready to fight the patriarchy.
“You May Be Right” – Billy Joel
Only because “you may be right, I may be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for” is a very Aquarian phrase.
“Savage” – Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion is another Aquarius artist, and while her song “Savage” has her listing out a few adjectives that could apply to different zodiac signs (“classy, bougie, ratchet”) “moody” stands out for Aquarius.
“Everyday Is a Winding Road” – Sheryl Crow
Sheryl Crow—an Aquarius—sings, “I’ve been wondering if all the things I’ve seen
were ever real, were ever really happening,” which is just some introspective Aquarian non-sense.
“Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” from Hair
Could we end with anything else?
