In the comedic drama “The Favourite,” set in the 18th century, Emma Stone plays Abigail, a servant who has come to the royal court and is taken under the wing of her cousin, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), who has a close relationship with Queen Anne (Olivia Colman). But Abigail also works to gain the favor of the queen, stirring up a vicious triangle of loyalties.
In this scene on the shooting range, Abigail and Lady Sarah mix harsh words with loud gunshots. The director Yorgos Lanthimos discusses some of the ideas behind the scene.
