Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have welcomed their fourth child with the help of a surrogate.
But why did they use one?
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and her rapper husband welcomed daughter North, five, and son Saint, three, naturally, but chose to use a surrogate when they had daughter Chicago last year.
Now that they've welcomed a second son, whose name we don't yet know, via surrogacy, people may be wondering why they've chosen to take that route.
But there's a very good reason for it.
Fans of Kim's reality show will have seen her struggles with her first and second pregnancies.
While she was pregnant with North, Kim suffered with pre-eclampsia.
The condition is marked by high blood pressure and it can effect the unborn baby.
It can impair kidney and liver function and cause blood clotting problems, fluid on the lungs, seizures, and in severe forms, even maternal and infant death.
Suffering from the condition meant that Kim had to deliver North at 34 weeks, six weeks earlier than the standard length of pregnancy.
After the birth, Kim also suffered from placenta accreta, which meant her placenta was too strongly attached to the womb.
The 38-year-old once said: "My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. How disgusting and painful.
"My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before. My delivery was fairly easy, but then going through that – it was the most painful experience of my life."
Kim needed surgery to correct the issue.
Sources claimed that Kim suffered the came problem with her placenta after Saint's birth in 2015.
After her second pregnancy, she was warned by doctors that it would be dangerous for her to get pregnant for a third time.
She even tried having an operation to help her deliver a third child safely but it was unsuccessful.
The medical issues led Kim and Kanye to consider alternative routes to have more children.
They chose to use a surrogate for Chicago, and it's believed a different women helped the couple welcome their fourth child.
Kanye, 41, once said he wants seven children, which means they may not be done just yet.
Kim announced tonight that their fourth child was here.
She tweeted: "He’s here and he’s perfect!"
She added: "He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her"
