I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 contestants Vernon Kay, 46, and Ruthie Henshall, 53, recently took part in a difficult challenge alongside their campmates Sir Mo Farrah, 37, and Victoria Derbyshire, 52, in a bid to win treats for the camp. Following her exit from the show, a source claimed she had a “fleeting clash” with Vernon during the task, which was reportedly cut from the show.

I’m telling you there was nothing, absolutely nothing.

Viewers witnessed the quartet attempting to win keys for boxes containing either nothing, a treat from home, or a star which meant one meal during arcade style game The Serpent. In pairs, they had to use handles to guide a ball down a pathway to them without dropping it.

The challenge proved to be difficult for Ruthie and Mo, who won just two of their five balls.

On camera, she later said she was “frustrated” with the result of the task after winning fewer stars than Vernon and Victoria.

During the trial, Ruthie is said to have hit back at Vernon as he tried to help the pair from the sidelines.

A source said: “Ruthie was just so desperate to get everyone their treat from home that in the heat of the moment she snapped at Vernon.

“He was trying to be supportive but Ruthie clearly took it the wrong way and briefly barked back at him.

“Vernon sometimes goes into host mode, which is only natural given it’s his day job, and she felt it was distracting her focus.

“It was a fleeting clash, and everyone was friends again afterwards,” the source added to The Sun.

Shutting down the rumours today, journalist Victoria said there was no such exchange between the pair.

Speaking on Lorraine alongside Beverley Callard, she said: “That didn’t happen.

“That was the trial, Ruthie, Mo, Vernon and I did I think, The Serpent board, it was really really hard.

“I was there the whole time, I’m telling you there was nothing, absolutely nothing.

“And, if there was something, I would say Lorraine, you know I would.”

She reiterated: “Seriously, nothing at all,” to which Beverley agreed.

The pair became the latest contestants to leave this year’s series in the show’s first double elimination last night.

Ahead of this, Ruthie left the castle and has since spoken out about her experience on the show.

Catching up with Vick Hope on spin-off show The Daily Drop, the musical theatre star described the programme as “brutal”.

She explained: “I loved it, it was such an adventure, but it is brutal.

“I don’t think anybody understands quite how hard the trials are, quite how vile they are.

“I’m sure they think that we get these run-throughs or that we get some kind of pass, or people are giving us protein bars in the background – none of that.

“What you see is what’s happening. It is brutal.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
