The CW is developing a live-action Powerpuff Girls series, according to Variety.
The show, based on the classic Cartoon Network series, would center back on Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom, who are now disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
The project comes from the minds of writers and executive producers Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden on board as executive producers along with Warner Bros. Television.
The animated series centered on the three girls, who were created by Professor Utonium using a combination of sugar, spice, and everything nice with the mysterious Chemical X.
The Powerpuff Girls ran for six seasons from 1998 and 2005, and was rebooted in 2016.
