Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse has said that if she were on the show on Sunday she "might've saved" Max George and sent home Maisie Smith.

Motsi was unable to appear as she is now self isolating after she had to rush back to Germany, where she lives, as there was a break in at the dance school she runs.

After returning to the UK for the show, the mother-of-one now has to quarantine for 14 days in accordance with government rules.

Strictly's Anton Du Beke stood in for the missing judge, and was part of the panel which saw Max George and Dianne Buswell get eliminated in shock scenes.

After Sunday night's show, Motsi, 39, told BBC Radio 2 that she would have sided with head judge Shirley Ballas and kept Max, 32, in the competition.

She said: "I saw that Max had a very difficult routine, he had to control himself quite a lot.

"If we remember last week with the Simpsons he was all jolly and I think he liked that role and this time he had to be back in control.

"I'm stuck here, I'm almost like Shirley, watching from the outside, maybe I might have saved Max.

"But you cannot see from the TV screen as well as you can sitting there and being a judge."
