Nobody likes a clever dick, but it didn't take Columbo and the entire occupancy of 221B Baker Street to work out that if Rihanna would dare to be over one hour and 30 minutes late for the Queen Bee herself, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at this year's Met Gala, she sure as hell wasn't going to be punctual for her beauty brand's first birthday party in Sydney.

7.30pm: The party officially starts. But a Fenty Beauty makeup station, cocktails galore, two photo booths and tunes by DJ FlexMami were more than enough to distract the 150 or so guests, mainly made up of beauty bloggers (or "content creators" as they now prefer to be known) as well as Jesinta Franklin and Imogen Anthony, as we awaited the Bajan singer's arrival.
9.12pm: Like an apparition, she appeared in the one storey-high DJ booth.
After surprising fans in New York, Dubai and Singapore, Sydney was the last stop on her Fenty Beauty World Tour.
Dressed in an eye-catching snakeskin bucket hat and matching ensemble, she told the crowd: "Australia is very, very dear to my heart and I could not leave you guys out."
She followed it up with some promotional messages about the new collection, gave a number of shout-outs to her stockists Sephora, and then added: "OK, I am going to come party with you guys now."
And party she did.
Surrounded by her (a tad aggressive) security and her entourage, she made her way around to the four colourful stations set-up in the Cargo Hall of the Overseas Passenger Terminal, taking pictures with overzealous guests as she went.

9.32pm: Kane Vato, fiance of Pia Muehlenbeck, who is a Sydney-based influencer with over 2 million followers, was one such over-excited fan.
As Vato tried to get the perfect shot of his Instabae as she spoke to the Umbrella singer, he got a little too close for her security's comfort and was swiftly picked up by four burly bodyguards and carried out of the way.

9.50pm: Making millions off her beauty brand, which is heralded as one of the most diverse in the market, is clearly thirsty work, so after posing for a few shots in front of the Sydney Opera House, she stopped off to wet her whistle in a VIP bar in the corner sectioned off just for her, where shots upon shots were lined up for the famous party girl.
10.18pm: After a few more selfies, Rihanna had had her fill and she was off to meet fans at Sephora on Pitt Street.
