Shania Twain Reflects On How She Was Inspired By Britney Spears

In the latest episode of Home Now Radio on Apple Music, Shania Twain reflected on how she was inspired by Britney Spears‘ Vegas residency.

Twain said she witnessed the pop star’s performances during “Britney: Piece of Me” from 2013 to 2017 at the Zappos Theater. It was in the same venue that Twain performed her second residency “Let’s Go!”

“I loved the room. I thought her show was great and I was motivated to get on that same stage, so her show inspired me a lot. It was a fantastic show,” said the country music icon.

“‘Hit me baby one more time.’ Oh yeah. Britney Spears,” Twain said, and added, “I don’t sound like her, but I sing along to her records.”

“Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know,” a track from Spears’ Billboard 200 No. 1 sophomore album Oops!… I Did It Again, was co-written by Twain.

Twain also recalled singing with Avril Lavigne in the middle of a tour in Canada. Lavigne was just 15 years old when she shared the stage with her after winning a singing contest.

“This little girl came up and was so impressive. And she said that her dream was to become a singer and that’s what she did,” Twain said. “Really awesome. I’m proud of her.”
