Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings trailer introduces Marvel’s first Asian superhero movie starring Simu Liu and Awkwafina
Marvel released the first trailer for Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings featuring Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung.
The unveiling of the clip is a historic event as it is the first Asian superhero movie introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it features an all-Asian cast including the first lead Asian superhero.
Canadian actor Liu, 32, looked every bit the action star as he showed off an impressive array of martial arts skills in the titular role.

His character, Shang-Chi, is a martial artist who has been trained to be an assassin since childhood by the Ten Rings terror organization.
Things begin to get tricky when he tries to escape to a normal life by living in San Francisco.
No doubt it is a complicated situation as Shang-Chi’s father Wenwu/The Mandarin (played by Tony Leung) is actually the leader of the villainous Ten Rings organization.

In an ominous voiceover Wenwu said: ‘I gave you ten years to live your life and where di that get you?
‘You walked in my shadow, I trained you so the most dangerous people in the world couldn’t kill you.
‘Son it’s time for you to take your place by my side.’
Shang-Chi defiantly says: ‘That’s not going to happen’

Then the two-minute clip really begins to kick it up a notch as Shang-Chi battles it out with several foes.
A voiceover from Wenwu continues: ‘You can’t outrun who you really are.’
It all ends with an epic fight scene inside of a San Francisco public transportation bus where he first meet’s Awkwafina’s – real name Nora Lum – Katy.
Things definitely get interesting as Katy ends up behind the wheel of the large vehicle and crashes into several cars as Shang-Chi is forced to save several passengers in the process.

Interesting: A helicopter could be seen landing in front of Ten Rings organization members

It ends with Katy hilariously remarking: ‘We make a good team!’
The all-Asian cast is star-studded as the film also includes characters Xialing (Meng’er Zhang), Jian Li (Fala Chen), Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu), Jon Jon (Ronny Chieng) and Jiang Nan (Michelle Yeoh).
When filming wrapped back in October, Liu was well aware of the historic moment as he took to Facebook to write: ‘Nine months from now we will break records and make history as the first superhero movie to feature an ALL-ASIAN cast that kicks so much ass it’s not ever funny. Well – that’s a lie, actually, it’s quite funny too.

‘For all of those who hated us because of the color of our skin, or been made to feel less than because of it; NO MORE. This is OUR movie, and it will be IMPOSSIBLE for Hollywood to ignore us after this.’
The character of Shang-Chi – also known as the Master of Kung Fu and Brother Hand – first appeared in Marvel comics back in 1973.
Destin Daniel Cretton – who is known for introspective dramas like Just Mercy, Short Term 12, and The Glass Castle – directed the film.
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings is set for release in the US and UK on September 3.
