After announcing she is expecting her second child, Olympian Sam Quek has admitted that she will “never stop worrying” in her pregnancies after previously experiencing a miscarriage.
The TV presenter had a miscarriage at 10 weeks before falling pregnant with her daughter Molly, who she introduced to OK! in April and is now seven months old.
Speaking exclusively to OK! as she shared the wonderful news of baby number two, Sam said it takes time for her to relax into her pregnancies.
The Question of Sport star said: “You just stop yourself getting too excited in case you get any disappointment.
“It’s sad because when you get pregnant you should have that joy and elation, like Tom does straight away, but even now I’m constantly worried. I will be for the whole pregnancy.”
Sam is 17 weeks pregnant with her second child with her husband Thomas Mairs, who runs a student housing business.
Sam, who is also presenting on The One Show whilst Alex Jones is on maternity leave, continued: “Anything I feel, even if it’s just wind, I think, 'Is everything OK?'
"Every time I go to the toilet, as a woman, if you’ve had a miscarriage, you will check the tissue for blood.
“It will never go away and it’s just an unfortunate experience for people who have gone through it.”
But Sam says she is “grateful” she fell pregnant so soon after welcoming Molly after trying for 18 months to two years to conceive the little one.
“I think pregnancy is a miracle and part of me is so grateful it’s happened so easily this time,” she added.
And opening about how she felt to discover she was expecting seven months after welcoming Molly, Sam said: “We were shocked but we’re so excited!”
The 32 year old, who finished fourth on I’m A Celebrity in 2016, continued: “But because of previous experiences, I never like to get too excited until we’ve had our 12-week scan.”
Tom, 34, added: “We didn’t think it would happen so quickly.

“I’m actually really pleased we’re going to have two so close together because one of my siblings was just under 18 months older than me and my life was far better having a sibling so close.”
He continued: “I also think a lot of Sam’s success is down to the fact she’s a twin, especially to a boy [brother Shaun], as she had someone to compete with.
"We’re very pleased for Molly.”
