S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole dead aged 46 just weeks after band reunion

Paul Cattermole on Lorraine talks S Club 7

S Club 7 singer Paul Cattermole has died aged 46.

The performer was tragically found dead at his home just weeks after the band confirmed their reunion tour.

Paul recently shared his excitement over returning to the stage alongside his bandmates later on this year, just before news of his tragic death broke.

Paul’s bandmate and ex-girlfriend Hannah Spearritt, along with the rest of the group, was left “devastated” by the loss.

A statement on the S Club social media accounts said: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel.

“We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”

In a statement announcing his death, Paul Cattermole’s family and S Club 7 said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

“Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

“While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”

Paul first met his S Club 7 bandmate Hannah, 42, when they were just teenagers at the National Youth Music Theatre.

They became an item after their romance became part of a storyline on the band’s TV show L.A 7, which aired from April to July in 2000.

Paul was one of the first members to join the band when it first formed in 1998.

The singer was spotted by producers from 19 Management and was invited to audition to be part of the group.

Paul parted ways with S Club 7 in 2002, before going on to form a new music group, Skua, who then split just one year later.

S Club 7 got back together after Paul’s exit in 2014 to perform at Children in Need.

They then reunited once more for their Bring It All Back Tour, prompting Hannah and Paul to get back together romantically too.

Sadly, the former couple then called it quits for good.

All seven original members of the group recently announced they were going to take to the stage again in a new 2023 tour, which was due to begin in October this year, with 11 dates planned in the UK and Ireland.
