James Martin revealed he is “chuffed to bits” as he detailed his “biggest” move in his career so far. The Saturday Morning chef took to Twitter and left fans stunned after he teased his big news today.

In view of his 710,000 followers, James uploaded a video where he said he would be joining Chris Evans on Virgin Radio today.

He began: “Hi guys, I’m in London. I’m just about to speak to Mr Chris Evans in a minute to talk about butter.

“But I’m going to talk about a brand new project that I’m about to launch.”

James continued: “We are going to tell you about it in the next half an hour.

“I’ve been working on the project for a year now. It’s an exciting project, an iconic project.

“It’s the biggest thing I’ve done in recent years.

“I’m chuffed to bits to tell you right now that we’re about to get cracking on with it.”

Speaking on Virgin Radio, James shared that he has joined forces with Albert Bartlett to launch Spudulike.

The baked potato brand first opened in 1974 and the ITV favourite has since taken over by offering tasty recipes and mouth-watering toppings.

Spudulike previously had fifty outlets across the United Kingdom in 2001, including twenty franchises.

A total of 37 Spudulike sites closed when the chain went into administration in August 2019.

Fans flooded the TV chef’s post with tweets following James’ big announcement.

Rob Harrison tweeted: “Nice one @Jamesmartinchef. Spudulike takes me back many years and always amazed that it never kept going. Can’t beat a great baked spud with a top filling or 2 (beans and cheese and/or tuna my favourites). Best of luck with the new enterprise!”

Julie Friend wrote: “Ok would never have guessed it was a @spudulikeuk_ announcement but am rather thrilled and please top them with that Ampersand butter.”

Crol Gibbons offered: “Good luck with your new venture.”

“This is a hell yeah! moment for sure. Can’t wait to see toppings/sides menu and see the potato brand reach out to North Yorkshire,” Sue Ohall tweeted.

James has since taken to Instagram to share the exciting news, in view of his 656,000 followers.

He penned: “So it’s official…look out for the new menu and new look!

“To be honest I’m so bloody excited for you to try the new look and new menu can’t wait…follow us and follow the journey at @spudulikebyjamesmartin.”

James Martin’s Saturday Morning airs Saturday at 9.30am.
