Mike Tyson Looks Forward to Death Because Living Is a 'Struggle'

Mike Tyson is one of the most famous boxers in the world. That’s because, on top of being one of the scariest heavyweight champions, he’s also had a troubled and notorious past.

Nowadays, he’s doing better though. He has a podcast, an acting career, and even a popular weed business to his name. But still, he carries some dark thoughts with him.

Mike Tyson’s career path

Tyson was a menace of boxing in the 80s. No boxer since Muhammad Ali had gained the attention that Tyson did. And the way Tyson did it was completely different to how Ali did it.

Tyson was a simple knockout artist. He’d get into the ring and after a few minutes, he’d walk out as the winner.

It didn’t really matter who his opponent was, he’d almost always land the knockout blow. Eventually, he became the heavyweight champion of the world and he soon took America by storm. But after, his mentor and coach died, it didn’t take long before his life spiraled out of control.

He was convicted of rape in 1992 and he was served three years in prison for the crime. This put a halt to his boxing career but it also left a massive stain on his legacy.

Despite that though, he eventually made his boxing return, but other boxers, such as Evander Holyfield, found cracks in his armor. After a couple of losses, it became clear that he should retire, and so he did.

Mike Tyson’s crimes and tragedies

While his boxing career was happening, Tyson’s anger issues were also boiling over into his personal life. It didn’t help that Tyson had a rough and tumble childhood.

Not only was he part of a street gang before he started boxing, but he also had an anger problem. This issue turned into a case of domestic violence against his first wife, Robin Givens.

After they divorced, Tyson would continue to try his hand at finding love. Unfortunately for Tyson, he was only able to marry his current wife after a tragedy that he went through.

In 2009, Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter, Exodus, accidentally died in his home. This tragedy hurt Tyson deeply, and that’s partially why he decided to tie the knot with his current wife, Lakiha Spicer.

With all this tragedy, violence, and death around Tyson’s professional and personal life, it’s not surprising that he has some dark thoughts when it comes to life and death.

As Insider reported, Tyson isn’t afraid to die. He thinks that life is a struggle since he’s been on top of the world and he’s also been at the bottom. Tyson, after earning over $400 million from his boxing fights, managed to lose almost all of it through his bad choices.

Because of this unique perspective on life, Tyson’s thoughts on fame and wealth has changed. As Insider reported, Tyson said: “We think we’re somebody. Who the f***? We’re nothing! We come from s***, we think we’re special! Fame is s***.”

Tyson also said, in regards to living versus dying: “Living might be more complicated than dying to me. Because living takes a lot of courage. Without the courage, you can’t handle living.”

This reflects all the tragedy and pain that Tyson’s had in his life. But while Tyson says that he looks forward to dying, he doesn’t mean that he’s suicidal.

Like Insider reported, Tyson’s thoughts on life and death are part of how he copes with the bad things in his life.

“I’ve handled bad stuff before, that’s been my life. So I don’t trip over bad things. When bad things happen, I will be still striving to do something. I won’t be discouraged,” Tyson said.
