The last time Meghan Markle stepped foot in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle was back in May for her royal wedding to Prince Harry. But she just returned to the location for the nuptials between Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank. Instead of the sheer, fresh makeup look she chose to wear on her wedding day, Markle wore dramatic black eyelashes, a semi-matte nude lipstick, and tons of shimmery bronzer swept on the apples of her cheeks.
You can get a similar look to Markle’s with the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact, which is like a bronzer, blush, and highlighter combined. Use a fluffy brush to sweep on a light layer from the apples of your cheeks up toward your ears, and then build the intensity until it’s at the pigment level you want.
According to People, Markle’s wedding day makeup artist Daniel Martin says the Duchess has been doing all her own makeup. “She’s gotten more comfortable doing her own makeup. She loves makeup and she’s good at it!,” he told People. “She likes a stronger eye, her brow is a lot more defined now. But it’s still her. If anything, she’s going to experiment with different tones, and now that she’s more tan she’ll use warmer colors. But she doesn’t stray too far from her technique, she’s very formulaic with her routine.”
Markle loves a nude lip, strong brow, dark lashes, and a little eyeliner—but she often keeps her base makeup sheer so that her natural freckles shine through. “I’ve had a lot of moms reach out to me thanking me about showing their daughter that they don’t need to wear as much makeup as they do,” Martin exclusively told BAZAAR.com about Markle’s own royal bridal look. “They came after me on my Instagram about why she didn’t have enough makeup on. She was a working actress—she had red carpet moments, she had those big events. For her, the wedding was more about her and her new husband, it wasn’t about the presentation of being in a royal wedding. She just wanted to feel like herself.”
