Mark Wahlberg, 51, surprised fans last year as he revealed his family had uprooted from their $90 million California mansion to pursue a “better life” in Las Vegas.
Now, six months on, Wahlberg has issued an update on the move and how his children – Ella Rae, 19, Michael, 17, Brendan, 14, and Grace Margaret,13 – had been benefiting from it.
The Father Stu actor said: “[My children] love Vegas. I spent lots of time in LA pursuing my interests and my career, and now it’s time for them to pursue theirs.
“Everybody is thriving there. It’s been great,” Wahlberg added in a new interview with E! News.
While the actor said his children have been enjoying the change of scenery, he and his wife, Rhea Durham, have also seen some perks to being based in Sin City, including its entertainment industry.
He said: “I saw Adele, I saw Bruno Mars. I’ve seen quite a few shows and been to lots of great restaurants. There’s so much to do in Vegas and it’s so exciting.”
Before he was a renowned Hollywood star, Wahlberg was a rapper who performed in the group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
The multi-faceted artist even earned himself a platinum-selling album and enjoyed a highly-publicised feud with one of the greatest rappers of all time: Eminem.
Eminem opened up about the sly disdain between the two musicians before explaining that it all came to a head in 1999 on the TV show Total Request Live.
Speaking with Anthony Bozza in the book Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem, Marshall Mathers explained he was told by MTV that he was going to be on the show with Wahlberg.

He began explaining that “some dude who works for MTV tells us Mark Wahlberg is coming in, says he’d appreciate it if we don’t call him Marky Mark”.
Eminem recalled Wahlberg arriving and saying: “What, is there supposed to be some f****ng tension in here or something?”
The rapper continued: “I pretended like I don’t hear him and s**t. Then we’re on air and […] I’m like, ‘We’ll just stand around here like one big fun bunch!’ So I threw a stab at him. He didn’t want me to say Mark-y. Probably didn’t want me to say funk-y neither.”
Years later, in 2017, Wahlberg was interviewed by GQ, and when the subject of Eminem came up, he explained things had cooled off between them over the years.
“Very cool guy,” he said of Eminem. “Very talented. And yes, I didn’t give him credit for that a long time ago. I was a hater because he’s a better rapper than me.”
