Mama June’s daughter Anna’s cancer confirmed as terminal in devastating update

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon has sadly revealed that her daughter Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell's cancer is terminal.

The reality TV star, 43, shared the devastating news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight as she told fans that the family have now "accepted" Anna's fate.

Mama June said: "We know it's terminal. She's stage 4. She's not gonna go into remission. We've all accepted that, so I just tell people one day at a time cause you never know."

It emerged earlier this year that Anna, 28, who found fame on the hit reality TV show, was battling stage four cancer in her liver, kidneys and lungs after being diagnosed in January with Adrenal Carcinoma.

And Mama June has made no secret of the fact that her daughter's diagnosis has always been on her mind as things have been an "emotional rollercoaster."

And her other daughter, Alana 'Honey Boo Boo ' Thompson, who was the star of the show, is hoping that her elder sister can continue to fight the disease for as long as possible.

Speaking about her heartbreak over her sister's illness, she recently said: "It is crazy to think that she will not be here probably in five years, but I'm hoping that she can pull through and fight 10, 20 years."

However, despite Anna's ill health Mama June was quick to reassure fans that her daughter is still able to carry on with daily life.

During the interview she added: "She's actually doing pretty good. She's handling it pretty good."

Anna, who is a mother to ten year old Kaitlyn, has made her children aware of her health battle although her youngest daughter Kylee, seven, is still too young to grasp the full extent of the diagnosis.

Mamma June's daughter Lauryn explained: "The 10-year-old is aware, I don't think she fully understands. I think she understands that Mommy is sick and Mommy might not be here for a while… She's 10, but she's a lot more mature than that because she's been raised around older people."

Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird said Anna "can still go to the grocery store, she can drive herself, she's still able to take the kids to and from places."

But she said that Chickadee "doesn't have hair, she has no eyebrows, she doesn't have any hair on her arms or anything like that."

Anna has already undergone four treatments to kill the cancer cells. And Lauryn continued: "A lot of people thought that it was gonna make her sick and stuff like that, [but] she's able to bounce back pretty quick."

Adding to Lauryn's comment, Alana continued: "It does wear her body down sometimes, but other than that, she's pretty good."

With her chemotherapy treatments completed it looks as though Anna could possibly continue to battle the disease with either immune therapy or a clinical trial but it remains unknown as to whether Anna will choose either one.

Mama June said: "She just wants to see how it's gonna go. We don't know what to expect because the cancer is very aggressive and it grew from nothing to something huge on the left side of her body really fast."

The matriarch is now planning to move from Alabama to Georgia with husband Justin Stroud to help care for her sick daughter.

Despite their close bond on the reality show, Mama June's relationship with children was not always a smooth one following her addiction to alcohol and cocaine over the years.

But the star has insisted all is well now.

She had recently said: "The relationship with Anna was actually working before she found out that she had cancer, It didn’t just all of a sudden miraculously start working, like, [when] Anna had cancer."
