Strictly Come Dancing pro Janette Manrara has opened up about living away from her family in a heart-breaking social media post today. The Miami-born dancer said missing birthday celebrations and important occasions was the “hardest” part of pursuing her career in the UK, while confirming her Twitter has been hacked.

Janette took to Instagram to share a series of pictures and videos of her family celebrating her goddaughter’s ninth birthday back home.

The 37-year-old said it “pains her” to miss out on such precious moments.

She admitted that being away from them seemed to get harder as she got older.

Janette lives in the UK with her husband and fellow Strictly star Aljaž Škorjanec, after joining the cast of the BBC programme in 2013.

“I always get asked what’s one of the hardest things for me when it comes to my career, and this is it.

“Birthday karaoke with crazy wigs & a crazy family & not being able to be a part of it,” Janette told her 434,000 followers this morning.

“Yesterday was my goddaughter’s 9th birthday party and it pains me to say I have missed most of them.

“I watch her grow from across the big pond through the magic of the internet, but nothing beats the times I can spend at home w/ her & my family.”

“I miss them every single day. The older I get, the harder it gets,” the professional dancer went on to say.

“But, London & the UK have now become home.

“You have all welcomed me w/ open arms & I have a beautiful tribe of friends that have become my family away from family, & for that I am truly grateful.

“Amongst the glam, sparkles, & dancing, there is always this tough choice to be away from my family to chase my dreams,”(sic) she continued.

“Luckily, they believe in me & support me 100,000 per cent of the way! And I try to make them & myself proud every single day.”

“Happy Birthday once again Kylie! I love you and the whole family to the moon and back!” Janette signed off.

The BBC star made her comments on the picture-sharing site after revealing that her Twitter account had been hacked.

Fans who visited her page were confronted with the image of a completely different person.

Speaking about the matter online, a frustrated Janette said it could take a couple of days to be rectified.

“A couple of things… Yes, my Twitter has been hacked!” she informed fans.

“I get so frustrated with these people, but I’m trying to get it fixed, it’s the weekend so it might take a couple of days.

“But thank you for those who’ve let me know.

“Secondly, I’m excited that tomorrow I’ll be making a fun little announcement.

“Nothing too crazy or too exciting, but I’m excited to be announcing it so stay tuned for that tomorrow,” she went on to tease.
