Jade Thirlwall reassures Little Mix fans as Jesy Nelson takes time off

Jade Thirwall has assured fans that Little Mix aren’t going anywhere.

The girlband – made up of Jade, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson – have just released their sixth studio album Confetti and by the sounds of it, they have plenty more to come.

Following news that Jesy is taking ‘extended time off’ due to ‘private medical reasons’, Jade assured the band’s legions of fans that the girls will always be Little Mix.

Appearing on Ash London Live on Australia’s Hit radio, Jade addressed the future of Little Mix and while she claimed that the girls may explore ‘doing their own thing’, they’ll always come back together.

She said: ‘You know, eventually in the future we might go off and do our own bits and bobs, but I think Little Mix will literally never die.’

‘We’ve always said that,’ Jade revealed. ‘We’re like, we always need Little Mix.’

Revealing what’s on her personal bucket list, Jade said she ‘definitely wants to travel more’ and see fans all over the world.

She also addressed what it was like for the band to take a breather over lockdown, as the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc for the music industry – cancelling tour dates and live shows all over the world.

‘I’ve worked solidly for nine whole years now without hardly any break, I’m sort of used to that now and not stopping,’ Jade said.

‘Lockdown, when I had to stop and take a little break, I was so freaked out, I didn’t know what to do with myself with all that time off.’

She explained: ‘With Little Mix, whenever we achieve something, we go right this is next. It just keeps us going and going. Obviously, we enjoy each other’s company so it makes the work a lot easier.’

Jade’s radio appearance comes after a spokesperson for Little Mix confirmed Jesy will be taking some time off from the band.

They released a statement that read: ‘Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons. We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time.’

News of Jesy’s time off comes after she was forced to miss the final of Little Mix’s talent show The Search due to being unwell, with the rest of girls tweeting they were ‘so sad’ Jesy would be missing the show.

She had also pulled out of hosting the MTV European Music Awards with the girls, earlier this month.

A statement confirming her absence had said at the time: ‘Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of Little Mix The Search. She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMAs.’
