Downton Abbey originally started as a TV show created by Julian Fellowes running from 2010 to 2015 on ITV and gained a mass following of passionate fans.

The period drama quickly became a household name and after the series came to a dramatic end, fans were left wanting more from the writers.

In 2019, Downton Abbey returned to the big screen which was raved by fans across the country as they got to follow the lives of the beloved characters once more.

In March this year it was rumoured that filming was set to take place in the coming month with the cast and crew preparing to shoot in the summer months.

Hugh Bonneville, 57, who plays the role of Lord Grantham, said it was “good to be back” on the set of Downton abbey as he shared a picture on set wearing a bandana as a mask.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, producer Gareth Neame said: “After a very challenging year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it is a huge comfort to think that better times are ahead and that next Christmas we will be reunited with the beloved characters.”
