Divorcing billionaire art collectors David and Libbie Mugrabi agreed to behave in front of their kids after tussling with a $500K Keith Haring sculpture in July—but the gloves came off in court Tuesday with Libbie yelling in the hallway that her ex was videotaping her and David claiming she spent $6K a personal trainer.
“You shall be civil and appropriate,” Justice Douglas Hoffman said, reading from a settlement that resolves Libbie’s demand for an order of protection from her husband of 14 years after she accused him a hitting her with the Haring sculpture.
The ex-couple inked the deal, but not before Libbie shouted “David just videotaped me!” while her lawyers negotiated in a hallway outside the courtroom.
In the courtroom the Mugrabis argued over how much Libbie could spend for a Thanksgiving vacation with their two kids.
Her lawyer, Denis McDonough, said the amount should be commensurate with their “$3.5 million a year lifestyle” while David’s attorney Ory Apelboim countered that the last hotel bill they received from the wife included “$6,000 to $7,000 for a personal trainer.”
“If he gets some five figure bill for three nights at Thanksgiving which is what she will do it’s abhorrent,” Apelboim griped. The judge said he’d limit the holiday expenses to $4,000.
“No one’s going to starve in this family,” the judge joked.
