Charlotte Crosby says quarantining in Australia gave her time to ‘learn to be alone’

With Christmas well and truly behind us, and only a couple of months left of winter, a lot of us are ready to get back on the fitness bandwagon. And Charlotte Crosby is on hand to help!

The Geordie Shore queen, who released her first fitness DVD back in 2014, says she used to be the most “inactive person” and barely worked out. But she tells us falling in love with exercise has changed her life.

“It really is the best medicine for anything,” she says as she gets set to release her new fitness app.

Char, 31, has achieved a hell of a lot in the last decade. She won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and had her own live tour, One Night With Charlotte, last year.

And in our exclusive chat, she tells us she finally feels proud of herself. And so she should!

Charlotte has also found love again. She moved in with her new boyfriend, Jake Ankers, following her break-up from Liam Beaumont last summer.

While break-ups are never easy, she says she’s far from bitter, revealing they simply weren’t meant for each other and that she’s thankful for their relationship.

“We didn’t hate each other and, because of that, he taught me a lot. When I look back, I owe a lot to him because of how far I’ve come as a person.”

Here, Charlotte talks about her date nights with Jake, her goals for this year and her best mate Holly Hagan’s wedding plans…

Hi Charlotte! What are your goals for 2022?

To learn how to snowboard. I’ve had four lessons now. I’d like to get better at it and see how well I do. Hopefully, I can keep doing it and it won’t get shut down [by Covid restrictions].

What advice would you give to someone wanting to kickstart their fitness this year?

Before I released my DVD, I didn’t exercise at all, so I completely get how hard it is. I never worked out, I barely walked anywhere, I was the most inactive person ever. It’s just a case of doing it. You won’t believe the benefits it has for the mind, body and soul. It really is the best medicine for anything. It changes your life.

How are you and your new boyfriend Jake doing?

He’s so great. We’re doing amazing at the moment. Not many people have seen him because I’m very private when it comes to my relationship with him.

Have you had many date nights?

Absolutely. We love a date night. We went bowling recently.

How do you look back on last year?

I learnt so much about myself last year. I think 2021 has been one of the biggest years of discovery for me. I went to Australia and I had to quarantine for three weeks in a hotel by myself.

I learnt so much about myself in that space of time. I learnt I could be alone and I’m actually mentally headstrong. It’s been a year of growth for me.

Who were the people in your life who made your year memorable for you?

It’s a hard one because I started last year in a relationship with someone else. Even though that relationship didn’t work out, I would say he made me realise a lot about myself.

He made me realise a lot about relationships because it was such a good break-up. It wasn’t nasty at all. It was a case of us realising we weren’t meant to be together. We didn’t hate each other, and, because of that, he taught me a lot. When I look back,

I owe a lot to him because of how far I’ve come as a person.

Your friend Holly Hagan is getting married. Are you excited?

Yes! I’m a bridesmaid, so I’m so excited. It’s all very dependent on what’s going to happen in the world, but it will be incredible when it finally happens. I’m so happy for her.

How do you look back on your career?

It’s been 10 years now since I joined Geordie Shore. I don’t give myself enough credit for everything I’ve done.

When I was 23, I’d done six series of GS, won Celebrity Big Brother, had my own TV show travelling around the world and just landed my first fashion deal with In The Style, who I still work with to this day.

Since then, I’ve had three of my own shows – it’s crazy. I’ve done more than some would do in their lifetime in 10 years. I’m very proud of myself.

How do you feel about releasing your new fitness app?

I’m so excited about it, and a bit nervous. I’ve done DVDs in the past, and I’ve carried on my fitness journey behind closed doors since then.

That was a great exercise DVD and I still do the routines now. I was so happy to be reunited with my personal trainers, David and Richard. It made me so happy that we could all come back together again to bring out a whole new level of fitness, nutrition and recipes. It’s going to be amazing.
