Tragic details about the days leading up to Love Island host Caroline Flack‘s death have been revealed.
Caroline‘s mother Chris and twin sister Jodi addressed the coroner’s court regarding the inquest into her death. Caroline died by suicide in February of 2020.
Months before her suicide, Caroline was accused of assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton. The decision to take the case to trial was called a “show trial” by Chris and added she was “hounded by the press” leading up to her tragic death.
“I believe Caroline was seriously let down by the authorities and in particular the CPS (Crown Prosecution Services) for pursuing the case,” Chris said (via The Guardian). “There was disputed evidence in court… Being well known should not allow special treatment, but should not allow making an example of someone.”
Jodi said Caroline was “devastated” over the assault charges and felt she could not “tell her side of the story.”
Meanwhile, if you missed this story, one celebrity has been firing back at claims that she is responsible for Caroline‘s death.
“Her life and reputation she worked hard to build was falling apart … because of a false accusation,” Jodi said. “It was our belief it would not be happening to her if she wasn’t in the public eye… At worst, her career and reputation, so precious to her, had been taken away.”
Jodi added, “Caroline spent the last few months of her life hiding inside, scared of the abuse… Caroline seemed very sad the day before her death—she seemed to have lost her fight.”
