Boy George and Taylor Momsen have joined the lineup of stars set to perform at the virtual David Bowie tribute concert, “A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day!” to be streamed globally at 9 PM ET on Friday.
The virtual concert, hosted by Bowie’s bandmate Mike Garson, will mark what would have been the late artist’s 74th birthday. The concert will continue to play on loop and will remain available for ticket holders around the globe to enjoy for 24 hours after its initial stream.
Garson will front the livestream’s house band, made up of musicians who played with the “Modern Love” hitmaker over the course of his career.
Yungblud, Anna Calvi, Duran Duran, Adam Lambert, Ricky Gervais, Gary Barlow, Andra Day, Michael C. Hall, Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor, Def Leppard‘s Joe Elliott, the Rolling Stones‘ Bernard Fowler and Ground Control (a supergroup made up of Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Foo Fighters‘ Taylor Hawkins and Jane’s Addiction‘s Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney) will be performing at the event.
The virtual event will also help raise money for the Save The Children organization, a charity that was deeply important to Bowie. For every $25 ticket sold for the concert, $2 will be donated to the charity.
