EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt, who has played Ian Beale in the BBC soap since 1985, is yet to divorce his estranged wife Beverley Sharpe, 56. It has been reported that the 53-year-old actor has signed a £250,000 deal for the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Bev, who shares two children with the soap star, is claimed to be “struggling” financially, according to a pal.

Adam’s estranged wife is reportedly not impressed with the deal, according to The Sun.

In pictures obtained by the publication, Bev was spotted carrying marked-down groceries from the supermarket, including bread, quiche and a fish pie.

However, Adam, who is currently on tour with the play Looking Good Dead, is said to be paying Bev “interim maintenance payments” to support her while their divorce is being finalised.

They share children Jessica, 28, and Samuel, 24.

A source told the publication: “She’s really been struggling. Bev looked a bit down on her luck and alone.

“You could see the yellow stickers used when food items are coming to the end of their sell-by date.”

A pal of Bev added: “She has really struggled financially and relied on food donations on occasion recently from family and friends.”

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives of Adam and I’m A Celebrity asking for comment.

Beverley and Adam spilt in August 2019 after 22 years of marriage.

A spokesperson for the BBC soap confirmed that Adam and Beverley had split at the time.

“Beverley and Adam separated in August 2019 and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected,” the statement read.

The news of the couple’s separation came after it was reported that Adam would be “written out of the soap”.

It has since been reported that the EastEnders actor has signed up for the reality series I’m A Celebrity.

A source told The Sun: “Adam was a big target for the casting team – he is a soap legend and is certain to be a huge hit with fans.”

Express.co.uk contacted Adam Woodyatt’s representatives for comment at the time.

He departed the BBC soap earlier this year – with his character running away from Albert Square.

It comes after the character’s childhood friend turned wife Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) attempted to kill him in revenge for the death of her son Dennis (Bleu Landau).

His death was partly Ian’s fault after he locked Den inside a room on a boat which later sank.

Earlier this year, Adam revealed he would be taking extended leave from the show.
